Getting out there

ORN: A long 60 minutes, 6/1

It's a beautiful, sunny day in Chicago, but I still struggled to get out the door. Boy, am I glad I did.

I added an extra "bit' to my normal route, just to get in a few more minutes, and I've upped the ratio to 6/1. If I'm going to get ready in time, I've got to try to increase my running ratio just a little bit.

It was a gorgeous run, and one that I would have been VERY disappointed to have missed.

Waddle on,

John

John-
I just want to say that it is so nice to know that I am not alone in needing to "make myself" get out there sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

John, it was a beautiful day on Saturday here in the midwest. I'm glad to hear you got out...these days will be gone soon and we'll be glad we took advantage.

I'm sort of a newbie at taking this running thing to a new level so "getting out there" in the chilly weather is giving me a whole new appreciation for cold and the sensation of cool water running over you as you run, as opposed to being mad at the cold because it ate up summer.

I'm continually intrigued at the reavaluation process as we age, or change activities, heck...everything - including the beginning and the end of a run as you noted.

Here's a funny sidenote - a friend just called about her 5K Turkey Trot, and how she LABORED over whether or not she would use her 'good' shoes, depending on the weather that day. Weather was dry albeit miserably cold, so she used The Good Shoes... stepped in dog poo on the course.
